1,200 in a mass grave and 528 in individual graves. On 26, 27 and 28 August 1914, the Breton and Vendée regiments resisted and pushed the enemy back: they would only withdraw on orders from the general staff.
Colonel Marollen died on 27 August, his last words were: "I die happy, my soldiers are brave".
