Museum of Applied Arts Gera

The Museum of Applied Arts in Gera is located in the Ferbersches Haus, one of the most impressive baroque residential complexes in Gera. It is the only special museum of its kind in Thuringia. In its collection and exhibition activities, it is dedicated to arts and crafts, fashion, design and home decor in all its diversity. The extensive permanent exhibition "Art Deco and Functionalism. Applied Art between the World Wars" presents arts and crafts, furniture and graphics of the modern era. The focus is on German and international design with ceramics, glass and textiles by well-known designers. Photography - including works by the Gera avant-gardist Aenne Biermann - and advertising graphics round off the collection profile. Changing special exhibitions and events complement the program.
