The Rettenbach has been used to generate electricity since the beginning of the 20th century. In the 1930s, the Sölden power plant acquired power plants from private individuals and expanded them between 1950 and 1970 to upper and lower levels. Gradually, the pressure pipelines in particular no longer met the technical standards and so a completely new power plant with new water intakes and pressure pipelines was built in 2008-2009. The special feature of this power plant is that it has 2 different water intakes and 2 machine sets.
