In 1878, the railway line you see here was part of an international railway route, including one from Berlin to London. WWI marked the end of the international route, although the railway was still used intensively for a period during WWII.

For the train passenger in the first half of the twentieth century, the Veghel stop was on the route from London to Berlin. From 1873, trains ran on the ‘German line’, constructed by the n.v. Noord-Brabantsch-Duitsche Spoorweg-Maatschappij (NBDS) as an international connection.
Passenger transport on the Boxtel-Gennep railway line came to a definitive end in August 1950. But perhaps there is a new future for the former German Line.
