It's a wonderful place, Smearsett Scar. There are terrific views of upper Ribblesdale from up here, with Fountains Fell beyond, but most of all, I would say, the phenomenal silhouette of Pen-y-ghent.

Mountain biking

Following the hard packed trail from the road, keep climbing until you get to the gates. Take the left hand one into the field. Follow the walking tracks into the field and keep climbing. The trig point is on the back end of the Scar. Amazing views.
