In Arnstadt there are only two preserved city gates, the Riedturm (this highlight) and the Neutorturm. Since the Hussites posed a threat and the residents of Arnstadt wanted to protect themselves from imminent rebellions, the ring wall and the city gates had to be reinforced in the 15th century.
