The master bricklayer Constant Hoy from Arnstadt carried out the design and construction. The construction costs were around 1170 marks with an average daily wage of an urban manual worker of 1.75 marks at that time. Construction was in progress at the end of 1895 and in July 1896 the "cross" was completed in the form that is still known today. It should remind of a "castle with watchtower" on the Alteburg.
