    Hiking

The Pummpälzweg is a cycling and hiking trail in Thuringia. The 28-kilometer trail runs from Eisenach via Ruhla, Kissel, and Profisch to Bad Salzungen.

The trail was opened on June 9, 2002, by the then Minister-President of Thuringia, Bernhard Vogel.

Along the Pummpälzweg, approximately 30 wooden sculptures depicting well-known Thuringian legends have been installed – "The Oath Swords of Wartburg Castle," "The Blacksmith of Ruhla," "The Bride's Spring," "The Beer Donkey," "The First Church of Gumpelstadt," "Landgrave Ludwig Tames the Lion," and "The Wild Boar." The wood carvings were created by students of the Empfertshausen Woodcarving School.
