The Halle Roland is located on the eastern outer wall of the Red Tower. The statue is made of sandstone and is four meters high. It changed its location several times on the market, first standing at the Red Tower, from 1514 in front of the scales at the town hall, from 1718 or 1719 in front of the former Schöppenhaus, in which the "Kaffeehaus zur Börse" was set up. In 1851, the Roland was temporarily brought to the courtyard of the Old Town Hall and then set up again at the Red Tower.

A figure of Roland symbolizes civil liberty, the independence of the city and the high level of jurisdiction around which the Roland dance was traditionally performed. Most of these figures can be found in Saxony-Anhalt. In Halle it is specifically the symbol of the burgrave's court, which was exercised by the burgrave of Magdeburg. The figure was first mentioned in 1341, but based on the style, the wooden figure can be dated to between 1240 and 1245. He is by far the oldest Roland.

Today's statue is the third example. The first figure, erected around 1245, was made of wood, as was the successor erected in 1426, which was also called Roland for the first time in this year. The third Roland is a sandstone cast from 1719, which was made by the Halle sculptor Bürger and is so true to it Originally follows that even elements can be found that only arise during woodworking.

The Hallesche Roland is a statue of Roland on the market square of the city of Halle (Saale). It's about four meters tall.

The Roland figure of the city of Halle (Saale) changed its place in the market area several times. Today it stands on the east side of the Red Tower.

Like Roland statues in other cities, it was erected as a sign of civil liberty, as a symbol of the city's independence, and as a symbol of high jurisdiction.

The first known location was a hill on the east side of the market next to the town hall.
