In front of the town hall (directly on Marktstrasse) there is a memorial plaque in the ground (it's easy to miss!): Since 2003 it has commemorated the book burning organized by the National Socialists, which took place on May 10, 1933 in Berlin and in numerous other German cities (like here in Landau).
