You are certainly wondering how such a charming, bucolic fountain can have such a martial name? We'll tell you if you insist, but really if you insist because it's not funny at all. This was at a time when Lausanne still had an army of recruits stationed at the Pontaise barracks (P) and a shooting range (T) at the Plaine de Mauvernay. However, the walking path connecting point P to point T passed precisely through fountain M, on purpose so that the recruits could only quench their thirst with water before going to shoot. Okay, the water was a good idea, but overall this story is not funny. We warned you.
Of course it could have, it should have, been called the Fountain of Lovers.
And the excess of resentment flows towards the Mediterranean (that’s already it).

One of the 12 fountains on the fountain circuit. It was used to supply the soldiers with water on their journey between the Pontaise barracks and the shooting range on the Mauvernay plain.
