The armory has been expanded several times over the course of history. The complex was partially destroyed in World War II. Therefore, only the spared part (New Armory) was restored in the 1970s. On the edge of the city center is one of the most spacious ensembles in the Free Imperial City of Ulm: the arsenal. The spacious inner courtyard was an important meeting place for the citizens.
