The fountain is located next to the Zundeltor gate and was created by the sculptor Karl Ulrich Nuss. Erder is reminiscent of the original Ulm Griesbadmichel. He was a house servant at the Griesbad Inn, collected earthworms with a lantern at night, and is one of the defining figures of the Ulm Fishermen's Tournament.
