Bolzano Gate
In the 14th century, when Meran became a city, the Counts of Tyrol had a wall built to protect the city from enemies. After the capital of Tyrol was moved from Meran to Innsbruck, the city walls were no longer serviced and were thus almost completely destroyed over time. Today only small parts of it can be seen, as well as three of the four entrance gates to the city.
The Bolzano Gate on the sand court was built in the 14th century and has been preserved in its original form to this day. On the south side you can see the coats of arms (late 15th century) of Austria, Tyrol and Merano. Behind the Bozner Tor there is a marble relief on the facade of the house, which depicts King Heinrich of Tyrol and his wife.

The most beautiful of the three city gates is the Bozener Tor with the strikingly steep roof.
