Hiking

One of the oldest recognizable towers in Kornelimünster is that of the Bergkirche St. Stephen. Situated on a hill above the village, this church is a striking visual landmark. Although the current church dates from later construction phases, the site has been known for a religious building since the early Middle Ages, and archaeological and historical evidence suggests that Roman structures or a lookout point even existed here before the medieval church was built. The tower of St. Stephen was damaged by lightning in 1830, altering the church's appearance while preserving the site's historical significance.
