The building at Große Burgstraße 19 in Weißenfels is a former inn. According to an inscription above the entrance to the building, it was built in 1697 by the court wig maker Adam Süßenbach.
The building has three floors, an economic cellar and a vaulted cellar. The construction of the building corresponds more closely to today's hotels than to the inns of that time. Today the vacant building is used by the Merseburg University of Applied Sciences for photographic installations. From 2012 to 2015, photographs of older Weißenfels residents were on view there. Since then, reproductions of the pictures by the photographer Horst P. Horst, who was born in Weissenfels in 1905 as Horst Paul Albert Bohrmann, have been on display there. (Wikipedia)

In the Große Burgstraße opposite the GELEITSHAUS and the stairs that lead up to the CASTLE, there is a special inn that was built in 1697. With its seven axes and three floors, it is evidence of the city's progressive recovery after the Thirty Years' War (1618-1648). In contrast to classic inns, which had a gateway for carriages, it is already what is preferably called a hotel today. The difference in terrain of the Schlossberg benefited the building, because it could be generously built with a cellar and, in addition to a utility room (storage rooms), also has a vaulted cellar.

There is a detailed inscription above the entrance that identifies it as the work of court wig maker Adam Sessenbach:

What I have firmly built here
        is nothing but unconfirmed
        It's only temporal
But give it to God's hand.

        whom God pleases
        No suffering harms him
        More false envy.

        This house had from
        Reason built from Adam
        Sessenbach first Paruguirer
        in Weißenfels: 1697

Since it has been empty for a long time, it has already been used several times for photographic installations by the MERSEBURG University of Applied Sciences. From 2012 to 2015, photographs of older people from Weißenfels could be seen there, since then they have been replicas of the pictures by the photographer Horst P. Horst, who was born Horst Paul Albert Bohrmann in Weißenfels in 1905 and who moved to Hamburg in the 1920s, soon after Paris moved.
In the early 1930s he became one of the most important portrait photographers of the 20th century, but worked primarily for Vogue magazine and Coco Chanel for decades. Some of his iconographically celebrated images were copied by Merseburg students and decorate the windows of the venerable inn, such as Salvador Dali (1943) directly above the entrance, next to it images from the Round the Clock series (1987) or the Muriel Maxwell cover of American Vogue dated July 1, 1939 to the right of the entrance directly below.
Many of the paintings can also be seen regularly in exhibitions worldwide.
