Tips
There is currently a diversion on the Caspar David Friedrich Trail. Above Schmilka, it feels like there are 1,000 steps to climb to get to the plateau near Schöna and the landmarks Zirkelstein and Kaiserkrone.There aren't that many steps, of course, but the climb is definitely strenuous.

The Aschersteig winds its way up 109 metres over 268 steps from the Elbe valley to the Schöna plateau. The lower entrance is often flooded, which is why wooden planks were built here.
