We used the climb to get off the beaten path from the Carolafelsen to Schmilka. There wasn't so much going on here.
Downhill it is quite steep and quite stressful for the knees.

Here is the key point and the end of the climb on the Lehnsteig. The site is easily passable even without alpine experience. My daughter (4) also came up here - albeit with some support. Above there is a great view towards Winterberg, Elbtal and Schrammsteine.

The Lehnsteig is a great ascent / descent for hikes in the Schmilka area. The Great Winter Mountain can also be reached quickly via it. Caution sure-footedness is required.

A delightful staircase and a nice alternative to the wide and gravelly root path. For the most part, you only climb a few wooden steps, with wild and romantic high sandstone cliffs towering on both sides. The top entry or exit of the stairs offers a bit of variety. Relatively steep stone steps have to be climbed here. All paths lead from the climb itself, which lead to climbing rocks and views, some of which are quite worthwhile, but also not legal. - at least that applies to hikers.

The Lehnsteig branches off to the left from the Wurzelweg. In the upper part of the Lehnsteig is quite steep. It is highly recommended as an alternative to the root path.Link: tps: //

At the top of the Reitsteig branching off first through the forest, then along a rock with a few trees, but with a beautiful view. Then partly steep stairs down into the next forest.
