Church located on San José street, in the Santa Cruz neighborhood. It belonged to the first convent of the order of the Discalced Mercedarians founded in 1614, and the church was finished in 1636.
In 1835 it was confiscated, although the church remained open. In 1860 it was given to the Philippine nuns, today in the convent of Santa Isabel in 1868. It was later the headquarters of the Santo Ángel school, Sisters of the Guardian Angel, between 1871 and 1963.
Occupied in 1965 by the prelature of Opus Dei, which currently looks after it, a tile commemorates the visit of Saint Josemaría Escrivá in 1967.
