Before 1880, the halls of the Bavarian and Saxon state railways were located on what was then Hof's dead-end station. Later, from 1927 to 1938, the Jewish synagogue stood here, which was destroyed during Kristallnacht. Today, Hallplatz is used as an inner-city parking lot. The Hof Volunteer Fire Department has its headquarters here in a hundred-year-old building with 26 fire engines.

The hall space at the back of the boarding hall is not a salt space, but a space for the halls. The warehouses of the two state railways that shared the operation of the Hof train station were located here: the Bavarian and Saxon railway companies. Every person and every goods from or to Saxony initially had to change trains in Hof. After the station was moved to its current location, the old buildings were demolished or re-used.
