The statue depicts the famous Mallorcan scholar Ramon Llull. It is located in the immediate vicinity of the port of Palma de Mallorca and the Palau de la Amudaina. Ramon Llull was born in 1232 and developed into one of the greatest poets and philosophers of his time. He is also considered to be the creator of the Catalan language.

Roman Llull came from a very rich family that was based in Mallorca because he liked to do missionaries, especially Muslims, it was not such a good idea to travel to Tunis, Tunisia, for example, because there he was attacked and badly injured 🤕 he later succumbed to his injuries back in his homeland Mallorca.

Llull was born into a wealthy Mallorcan family. In addition to poetry, he was passionate about proselytizing non-believers, who were primarily Muslims. In this context he made pilgrimages to the Arab world, whose language he also learned. Ramon Llull completed numerous further training courses and finally put his litarian art at the service of Catholic teaching. On a trip to Tunis in 1315, he was stoned by an angry crowd of Muslims in Bougier, Algeria. Although he managed to escape, he died soon after on his home island Mallorca.
