Location: Letschin, Märkisch-Oderland, Brandenburg, Germany
This view is named after Oberdeich inspector Simon Leonhard von Haerlem. Under his direction, the course of the Oder was straightened from 1747 and thus drained the Oderbruch. By draining the wetland over 32,000 hectares of arable land could be obtained. From here you have a wonderful view of the wide landscape of the Oderbruch. At the lookout there is a small rest hut and information boards where you can read a lot about the dike construction.
