Church worth seeing - Rococo in beautiful forms - flooded with light

A small Rococo church with frescoes by Matthäus Günther. Awarded the European Cultural Monument plaque. The altarpiece depicts Saint Leonard, John the Baptist and Bruno, the founder of the Carthusians.

The pilgrimage church of the Scourged Savior on the Wies is considered one of the most famous and at the same time most beautiful Rococo churches in all of Germany. Built between 1745 and 1754 by Dominikus Zimmermann, it has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983. Every year, the Wieskirche attracts around a million visitors from all over the world. It is known for its elaborate stucco decorations and ceiling paintings, among other things. In the summer, concerts are also regularly held in the Wieskirche.
