Only recently have been discovered two prehistoric Kreisgrabenanlagen, which are at the 4500 years old. Kreisgrabenanlagen are the oldest monumental complexes in Europe. A total of 120 of these huge earthworks were between 4800 and 4500 BC. Built between Bavaria and Slovakia and between Saxony to southern Hungary. More than 40 circular ditches were found in Lower Austria. One of the largest is the double circle ditch at Puch. The outer ditch had a diameter of 83 m, with two ditches. A 150m long wooden wall of 600 tree trunks formed the palisade. The circular trench can only be seen more dimly.
