Today's hike was more of a stroll; without any significant changes in elevation, we walked from Ober Grafendorf along the Mariazell Railway back to our starting point in St. Pölten. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't very inviting. Luckily, the rain stopped after just a few meters, but it remained overcast

A lovely morning hike in perfect weather. Don't be misled by the signs saying "Path to Fensterblick closed"; the fallen trees have been cleared. The trail is steep and a bit strenuous, but manageable. From the summit cross, there's a beautiful view over the valley and westward towards the Hocheck. The

A beautiful observation tower stands atop Braunsdorf Mountain, at an altitude of 450 meters near Krems-Egelsee. The tower offers visitors a magnificent view over the Danube Valley and the Tulln Basin. The view of the town of Krems, nestled at the foot of the vineyards in the foreground, is particularly

An afternoon excursion in beautiful, windless autumn weather. Most of the route can be done on cycle paths.

The history of Merkenstein Castle is marked by political conflicts and shifting ownership. As early as 1482, significant disputes arose when Hans III von Hohenberg, the then lord of the castle, placed the castles of Merckenstein, Hohenberg, and Kreisbach at the disposal of the Hungarian King Matthias

The place name Gols is said to derive from Saint Gallus, who is associated with viticulture. The area northeast of Lake Neusiedl has been inhabited since the Stone Age. Finds from this era, as well as from the Bronze Age and Hallstatt periods, confirm this. A dense settlement is also assumed to have

The Vienna Woods hike over the Steinkampl and Priefamtannkogel is largely unmarked, and there's no path between the two mountains. The path marked on the map no longer exists; the trail has become overgrown. However, it's almost impossible to miss the direction; simply hike west-east along the ridge

Our circular hike led from the small village of Prigglitz above Gloggnitz to the Gahns, a spur of the Schneeberg mountain. Even on the ascent, there are magnificent views of the valley and the surrounding landscape. At the top, the trail continues across the Tobelwiese meadow and on to the Rote Wand
