Hiking
to dig a pond and build a park in the swampy Lokveen. A lot of water naturally drained into this area and due to poor soil conditions it was still there
unsuitable for cultivation. The job was completed by the hard work of unemployed people with shovels and wheelbarrows. When the work was completed in 1935, the beloved mayor Boerema van Haren died. In tribute, the park was named Burgemeester Boerema Park. Info: boeremapark.nl
