Arnhem is the provincial capital of Gelderland in the east of the Netherlands. Located next to the Rhine, it is best known abroad for the World War II bridge at the Battle of Arnhem. The city center itself is not that special as the war destroyed much of the old city. However, there is still plenty to visit in the city that is worthwhile. Lots of beautiful architecture and nice restaurants, but also cozy bars and beautiful parks on the hill (quite special in the Netherlands).
