Arnhem is the provincial capital of Gelderland in the east of the Netherlands. Located next to the Rhine, it is best known abroad for the World War II bridge at the Battle of Arnhem. The city center itself is not that special as the war destroyed much of the old city. However, there is still plenty to visit in the city that is worthwhile. Lots of beautiful architecture and nice restaurants, but also cozy bars and beautiful parks on the hill (quite special in the Netherlands).

The views from the bridges over the city and the bike paths along the south bank are particularly beautiful. To explore the center it is better to leave your bike behind and go on foot.

Very beautiful city on the Old Rhine, lots of culture and more.
Starting point for beautiful tours to the Veluwe Zoom Park.

Quite an old town with some nice monuments but mostly a modern netherlandian architecture. The futuristic Central Station connects it with Germany and most larger cities in the Netherlands as said above good starting point for touring the eastern Netherlands. As nearly always in the Netherlands extensive bicycle path structure, eletronic navigation helps a lot.

A ride along the Riinkade is worth the effort. Cozy quay with terraces. Also nice to watch the passing ships.

Lovely city with lots of big green parks, and lots of rolling hills. Dutch San Francisco.

Arnhem is a city in the Netherlands. It is the capital of the province of Gelderland. Arnhem lies on the Nederrijn, a relatively short section of the Rhine after the Rhine divides, where the Waal and the Nederrijn, later the Lek, arise.
