The church, built between 1732 and 1739, has retained its uniqueness to this day.
Unfortunately not always open.
Wooden commemorative plaques are attached to large trees. There is also an altar for open-air services.

On the way to Heinersreuth in the middle of the forest is a notable, former pilgrimage church (Forest Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary), which was built in 1739 and, according to tradition, has the following history. A paralytic carpenter from Heinersreuth bought around 1715 during a pilgrimage on the market in Gößweinstein a portrait called "Maria zum Heiligen Blut", which supposedly came from Bohemia and which he planted in a hollow pine tree in his home area, where the church now stands. seated and highly revered. As a result of his devotional trust, the frail man became perfectly healthy again. He fastened a sacrificial box to this tree, which brought plenty of proceeds, because the miraculous healing of the carpenter made the picture popular with all kinds of sufferers and the tree became a popular place of pilgrimage. The sacrifices flowed so plentifully that after a few years the stately church that still exists could be built.
