On the hill, visible from afar and a little closer to the sky, is the small parish church of St. Nikolaus Berg. It is also a vantage point with a magnificent view of the city, the lake and the Alps. Many hikers are drawn up there to spend some quiet contemplation in the church.

First mentioned in 1275, the church was built in 1520 on the site of a castle chapel. Over the centuries, the church was expanded several times.

In 1645, the pastor of Berg, Dean Augustin Rogg, was kidnapped by the soldiers of Hohentwiel and the church was burned down.

What is still visible today and makes the church an architectural speciality is the tower south of the choir and the end walls of the choir, which are strikingly uneven. Elements from different stylistic eras can be seen in the entire building.
