Stavanger is Norway's oil city and stands like no other for Norway's change from one of the poorest to one of the richest countries in Europe after the first discovery in the 1960s.
Even if one is rather critical of fossil fuels, the oil museum gives a unique insight into history as well as economic and ecological connections.
With the 10 commandments for using one's own resources, Norway wasn't thinking ecologically at the time, but very strategically.
