The coastal estuary of the Haberniser Au is the largest contiguous and near-natural Auniederungsgebiet at the Flensburg Fjord. The valley of the Habernis, created 15,000 years ago, offers many special features such as Hochstaudenflure, Bruchwald, fen, springs and orchid-rich wet meadows. Deer, pheasants, rabbits and gray geese feel at ease here and many songbird species can be observed. Orchis, cotton grass and broccoli root occur here. On a Holzbohlenweg the trail leads through the Auniederung with its wet meadows. The Au flows through a small lock into the Baltic Sea. Not far from the coast, the Querner Mühlenbach flows into the Haberniser Au. This was renaturiert in the past years on a length of 2 km and meanders from Friedrichstal still in his new bed to himself. With regard to nature and wildlife, it is important for dogs to stay on a leash. Numerous trails of varying lengths lead through the calming and enchanting landscape.
