beautiful view from one of the many barrages on the Drau. The construction of the power plant turned the once wild Drau into a chain of reservoirs with only a few stretches of water in between. This has completely changed their ecology and habitus.

The Paternion run-of-river power plant was built in 1988 and has been supplying power to the region ever since, thanks to two giant turbines.
