Place of peace
Originally the city's market square. Here stood the medieval town hall, which was first mentioned as a playhouse in 1376. Burned down and destroyed in April 1761 during the occupation of French dragoons.
Sold for demolition in 1773.

Peace memorial
Erected in 1911 as a symbol of peaceful coexistence and national togetherness. Founder: Ludwig Meyer-Gerngroß, wholesale merchant from Mannheim, born in Steinheim, son of one of the oldest Jewish families. Execution: Georg Busch, art professor in Munich, born in Steinheim, part of the Busch family of sculptors. Damaged in anti-Jewish riots in 1938 and dismantled in 1940. Rebuilt in 1965. The peace monument is considered the first of its kind in Germany.
