According to legend, the church to the northeast above the village goes back to the local saint Martin, who founded the village in the 12th or 13th century, built the chapel and is said to have been buried in the tower of the church. The oldest part of the church is the tower base, which is now used as a sacristy and still has late Gothic frescoes with scenes from the life of Christ. The church was given its present form in 1819, when the current nave was built and the tower was raised. During this renovation, the choir arch to the old tower choir was walled up so that the choir area has been on the east wall of the nave since then.
