The Wilhelm Griesinger Hospital was opened at the end of the 19th century just outside Berlin as an institution for epilepsy. Based on the findings of Wilhelm Griesinger, the founder of modern German psychiatry, a loosely constructed development with residential and commercial buildings in the Neo-Renaissance style was built in the Wuhlgarten.
