The Kaulsdorfer Teiche have no natural origin. So-called sewage fields were created here many years ago, into which the waste water from the surrounding regions was channeled. After hygiene became more and more important, sewage fields were removed and handed over to nature. After a few years, the Kaulsdorf ponds were able to be transformed into a valuable natural biotope with the help of conversion measures and renaturation programs, in which many animals have found a new home.
