  • The occasion was the garden design of the Heylshof, at that time the city villa of the leather manufacturer Cornelius Heyl and his descendants. Hercules Fountain is an important grotto complex in the courtyard garden of the castle in Veitshöchheim from the 18th century, which was destroyed in 1945.

  • The Heyl family designed the present townscape in the last century and for the first time coined Worms with the Lederfabrik in 1834 as an industrial location. In addition to the castle of Herrnsheim, the Heylsschlösschen was another symbol of its wealth and power. But the social commitment of the Heyl family contrasts the image of the capitalist big industrialist. Thus, for the workers of the leather factory, the still existing "Kiautschau" were built; a residential area with beautiful half-timbered houses. After the plague and the total destruction in the succession war 1689 lived in the year 1695 only 1000 citizens in the ruins of the city Worms. Only through industrialization was the venerable city revived and attained its present-day character. The "Heylsschlösschen" was originally two-storey, but was destroyed by the bombing raids of World War II and after 1945 only one-story in condition. Since 1961 the Kunsthaus "Heylschlösschen" is open to the public: heylshof.de/museum/ausstellungen
