The rock mined in Rammelsbach is known as kuselite (microdiorite). The quarry is also the eponymous type locality for this kuselite. Kuselite has been mined and processed into paving stones and gravel in Rammelsbach since 1868. The highly sought-after Rammelsbach paving stone has been used in places like Paris (Place de la Concorde), Hamburg, Rotterdam, and Munich.

Today, only the quarry crusher is in operation; the rock is supplied by the Theisbergsteegen quarry. The Rammelsbach quarry area is no longer mined. Most of the minerals came from wide dolomite veins that run through the kuselite. Microminerals have also been found in the contact zones with the sediment.
