They were closed in the evening and lined with a portcullis, the passage of which can still be seen in the stones.
To ensure the defense of the village, the entrance was topped by a tower, which is still well preserved today.
The tower, measuring 5 m by 6 m, was equipped with loopholes and hoardings and a bridge made it possible to cross the moat.
