Snug, cozy market place, which invites you to linger in summer.

Market square with the fountain "History, children and water".

Market place to relax and rest. The old house of the bakery Linden will probably not stay there much longer. Otherwise, a beautiful fountain with bronze figures and new with a attachment for plants, so a little color comes into existence.

Very nice market square at the foot of the St. Lambertus church.
There are very good restaurants and ice cream parlors around the market square
          with outdoor gastronomy.

As part of the redesign of the market square, the fountain with the title “History, Children and Water” was built by Juan Fernandez from Aldenhoven, Burg Engelsdorf. The figures are made of bronze, the basin is made of artificial stone.

Beautiful historic market square with the best view of St. Lambertus.

"The town hall on the market square in the heart of the city of Bedburg was built in 1760 as a representative, magnificent building by the Oeppen family. Numerous notables emerged from this family. Around 1880 the building became the property of the merchant Hermann Franken. He ran a profitable land trade and was the highest taxed Jewish citizen of the Bergheim district.

On the night of the pogrom from November 9th to 10th, 1938, SA men stormed the family home. Albert Franken was taken into “Jewish protective custody” for several weeks. His mother, who was in the hospital opposite with heart problems, was brought out again by the SA men with the words “Jews have no place in a German hospital.” The Nazis expropriated the family.

In 1939, the city of Bedburg bought the Franken family's house on what is now Adolf-Hitler-Platz for 15,000 Reichsmarks. The family then emigrated. The mayor at the time, Dr. Before the renovation, Peter Kentenich said: “It will become a jewel of the city.” Until 1972 it was the only town hall in Bedburg. Then most of the offices moved to the new town hall in Kaster. It was still used by the administration until 2020.

The descendants of the Franken family followed in the footsteps of their ancestors. In 2019 they visited the city of Bedburg and also the family's former home."
