In 1953 grain was ground for the last time in the old mill, which was first mentioned in a document in 1348. After that, the buildings visibly fell into disrepair - until the Höchstadt architect Peter Giehl fell in love with the picturesque property on the outskirts of Sterpersdorf and carefully renovated it over many years from 1978. In 1986 he was even awarded the Monument Prize of the Hypo Cultural Foundation for this.
