The Salmbacher Passage leads here over the Lauter, which also marks the border between France and Germany. It is closed to public transport with motorized vehicles.
The hiking trail also passes here, most of which follows the dam of the defense system from 1706: The Lauter Line. The hiking trail is part of the GR 53.
You can find an information board about the Lauter Line about 70 meters southeast of the rest area.
