Parque García Sanabria is one of the top attractions in Santa Cruz, the capital of Tenerife. One can walk there among exotic flowers and plants. You can also discover great sculptures in this park and in a cafe at one of the entrances, you can enjoy the sun and the botanical flair. There is also a sundial made of beautiful flowers.
The park has a total area of 67,230 square meters and there are numerous and artistically valuable sculptures, some of which come from the First International Sculpture Exhibition in the Street and were created by artists such as Pablo Serrano and José Guinovart.
The park was named after the mayor García Sanabria, who decided to create it, and right in the middle of the park is the monument to the memory of García Sanabria. The work was built by the sculptor Francisco Borges Salas and designed by the architect Marrero Regalado. Just in front is the sculpture La Fecundidad (Fertility), also by Borges Salas.
Then, in 1924-1926, the mayor began collecting donations in cash and plant cuttings, as well as providing public funds to the city government, to create the park in 1926 on what was then wasteland. In the following decade it was equipped with irrigation and lighting.
Between 2004 and 2006 the park was closed and mostly renovated and remodeled somewhat. This transformation is most evident in the newly built children's playground. Admission is free, by the way.

Anyone visiting Santa Cruz should not miss this park. It's a wonderful place to relax and a real botanical garden - no entry fee. The big city relaxes here in the shade. Many works of art are hidden in it. There is a herb garden, a bamboo path, a frog pond and a rose avenue. Children will also have fun because there is a playground.
A place to relax and unwind. Also ideal for creating beautiful photos.
