These water wheels are located in the Bad Kreuznach Salinental.
The two water wheels with over 100 blades, engine linkages and pumps are used to transport brine to a height of nine meters to the engine crown using water power, just like in the old days. From there, the salty mineral water trickles down the blackthorn hedge walls and provides a fresh salt breeze.
The two new water wheels drive the rods, and the old pumps also work. But in consultation with the monument preservation department, the leading GuT (Health and Tourism for Bad Kreuznach GmbH) is leaving it with a show building. The brine continues to be pumped with electric pumps because the engine trench cannot supply enough water in summer.
