When I first saw the barbican, the bottom floor was not visible. The neck ditch was filled.
Now you can see very clearly that this bulwark consists of 4 levels. It was extensively renovated in the 1990s and the trench was partially dug again.
You can visit the barbican every day. Admission costs 12 zloty (as of 2021).
Attention: The entrance fee also includes a visit to the Florian Gate and the defensive corridors.
You can find the entrance when you go from the Barbican through the Florian Gate and then to the left to the next defense tower.
The barbican was built of brick in 1498 and 1499. The south side of Krakow has always been well protected by the Wawel Castle, but in the late 15th century there was a desire to better protect the Florian Gate on the north side, which clearly paid off. So the Habsburgs and the Swedes could be repulsed.

Very worth seeing and well-preserved defensive structure from the Middle Ages, that can be visited in summer and used for various performances.
