In 1961, the French abbey of Solesmes founded the monastery of Keur Moussa near Dakar. The archbishop expressed the wish that a Benedictine monastery in his diocese would emerge. After two reconnaissance trips in 1965, two nuns from Sainte-Cécile, also in Solesmes, on February 4, 1967, started a new foundation; one was a superior, the other a cellarer. On 1 March 1969, the official construction of the monastery by the Diocese of Thiès took place, which belongs to the Archdiocese of Dakar. The community counts nineteen members in the Jubilee year of 2017, including 15 nuns with perpetual profession, a regular oblation, a novice, a postulant and a sister from another community.
