Northwest of St. Andreasberg is the "free beer source"!
After hearing their name, who wouldn't want to go there straight away? This spring, the liquid from which pours into the Sperrlutter after only a few meters, is already in the forest, but still within sight of the houses on the outskirts of St. Andreasberg.
Although it only dribbles a little from the source, it is well known that a "freshly tapped" drink takes time. Equally well known is the fact that the main component of beer is water. In the case of the drink from the free beer source, however, the composition of the content is limited to just this one ingredient.A wooden table with seating is also nearby and makes the free beer source a popular picnic destination. The spring got its melodious name from the barrel from which the water runs. Thanks to the original design, the free beer source is also a popular photo motif.
(from harz-travel.de and harzlife.de)...the story of the beer keg is told on a sign.

The free beer spring is a beautiful place that invites you to linger. The condition here was very good, unfortunately the surrounding paths are no longer in such good shape.
