Scenic road to Rathen with views of Bastei, Lilienstein, and Königstein Fortress

Very nice road to and from Rathen. Rather something for early in the morning or during the week, as it is the main access road to Rathen by car. But then the drive on the small road is worthwhile. You drive through the forest and across open fields with great views of the area. Rewarding both downhill and uphill.

...or in the evening just before sunset! Here you can see the most famous highlights of Saxon Switzerland almost at the same time. Insanely beautiful views of Bastei, Lilienstein and Königstein Fortress. Very good asphalt, pleasant gradient and nice curves. Everything included. Recommended both uphill and downhill.
The traffic was pleasant for me on a Sunday evening in the fall, although not empty. But I can well imagine that it can get crowded at peak times of the season. Then the very narrow road uphill is probably not that comfortable to drive.
