Here is still peat mined. However, not the deeper black peat layers but the upper white peat layers are degraded for horticulture.

A beautiful section of the Huvenhoopsmoor North Path. The peat areas here are still partially used. However, the north path runs along some rewetted areas that exude an idyllic and quiet atmosphere. It is exciting to see the old quarries slowly being taken over by nature.
