The reed roof chapel was inaugurated in 1953 and is a direct testimony to German-German history. The border divided the congregation and prevented West Berlin Christians from coming to their church in Gross-Glienecke. Then, in the 1950s, they began building the plain, whitewashed building. The building material was brought to the construction site in interzonal trade.

The chapelThe reed-roof chapel was designed by architect Klemens Weigel in the style of a sheep barn. The reeds for the roof were a generous offer from the reed-processing entrepreneur Heinz from the waterfront. The reed-roof chapel was inaugurated on April 26, 1953. It has been a listed building since 1971. With the name "Am Groß-Glienicker See," the new community retained a connection to the "mother community."
